Pre-operative instructions for your FUE
Once you decide on hair hair transplant procedure and schedule the surgery date with us, you have to follow, a few instructions for a smooth surgical procedure.
.
-
Avoid all medications that thin the blood, especially Aspirin® if you are taking for analgesic purposes and also anti-inflammatory drugs such ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen, etc. If you need to take an analgesic during this period, prefer paracetamol.
-
It is required to warn Dr Zeybek if you take different types of blood thinners (anticoagulants) such as coumarin derivatives (COUMADIN®, etc.), rivaroxaban (XARELTO®), dabigatran (PRADAXA®), clopidrogel (PLAVIX®), apixaban (ELIQUIS®), enoxaparin (LOVENOX®, CLEXANE®), etc.and be sure you have mentioned these drugs in the health form you filled out with the reason of prescription. Remember that you should never stop an anticoagulant treatment before consulting the doctor who prescribed it for you.
-
If your hair is too short or shaved, let it grow until the day of the surgery. We need to see the full bald area, sparse area and the hair orientation. However we need a certain length of hair in the donor area to get the hair grafts. We will cut your hair right before the surgery to the ideal length (about 1 mm in length or a little more).
-
If you smoke, be aware that tobacco causes a constriction of blood vessels. It will decrease blood flow in the transplanted area and reduce the quality of hair regrowth. It is strongly advised to stop smoking (including electronic cigarettes and any kind of nicotine) 1 week before the hair transplant surgery and up to 15 days after the procedure.
-
You also need to stop taking Omega-3 capsules, any vitamin supplements (especially vitamin E), grape seed extract, garlic extract, licorice, green tea as well as herbal teas and herbal mixtures. You can drink unlimited tea and coffee except the morning of the procedure.
-
Avoid alcoholic beverages.
-
Take a shower, wash your hair and avoid putting on perfume, gel or any other cometic products.
-
Eat a full breakfast but do not drink coffee or tea.
-
Wear comfortable clothes like button front shirts or zipper front tracksuits. Otherwise, if you wear a t-shirt, prefer one with a wide collar.
